We departed from school by bus. It took us all day long to reach the hotel in France. On Monday early the first visit was Geneva's Botanical Garden, first built in 1911. The Alpine Garden and the Tropical and Tempered Greenhouses were a must. Then the United Nations, the meeting rooms especially number 20 of Human Rights with the amazing roof from the sculptor Miquel Barcelo. And the Council room decorated by Josep de Sert. After that, lunch in the Red Cross Museum restaurant. At three we meet the Guides for the Ancient City tour which was very interesting. Swiss people vote for everything, they now were the money from taxes goes.Geneva the last to enter the Swiss Confederation, by the will of Pictet de Bourgogne. The Protestant Cathedral looks like a Greek Temple. There is a concert room which formerly was an antiatomic refuge.
Next day CERN almost all day long. Twenty-two countries for basic particle research. Founded in 1949 after the war when scientist emigrated to America and they had to restore science in Europe. The Higgs Boson, the particle's mass was discovered here. The Microcosmos, the Globe, and a taste of the stations specially LHC Large Hadron Collider gave us a good idea of how they worked there. Then we visited Geneva on our own. Dinner in the Restaurant "La gruyerie ", Fondue for all. NeXT day after breakfast we left the hotel and headed to Annecy.  Typical savoyan city by the lake. Nice landscape and a very interesting Castle dedicated to Culture, Art, and Biodiversity. Then crossed the mountains to go back home. The last trip for IB2, now they are going to College. Good luck class 2017
